Over One Million People Are Left without Homes by Hurricane Katrina

The Katrina Hurricane disaster has left an unforgetable mark in USA history. So far, over one million people are displaced throughout the entire country, even to as far as Alaska, and will require the largest relief effort in U.S. history.

African groups form task force to coordinate humanitarian aid

Africans living in USA have come together to incorporate a non profit relief organization in response to hurricane Katrina disaster.

In Houston, African Disaster Relief is working in coordination with the community in the city to help thousands of victims. In addition to AD Relief staff working on the ground, over 50 volunteers are being mobilized to aid in the relief efforts.

AD Relief has provided two buses to convey evacuees to important places such as schools, Social Security office, etc. The organization is also providing daily meals to evacuees at Thurgood Marshal Elementary.

HOUSTON, TX: In response to the need of the victims, Africans in USA have united to incorporate the ADR organization and are already in action.

Dear Reader:

In response to the need of the victims of Hurricane Katrina, the Africans in City of Houston and surrounding area are collectively providing relief services to the affected people. We are having a center designated as a voluntary resource provider for this purpose.

Whatever you can do in term of providing essential commodities (excluding used clothes) that will ameliorate their hardship at this moment, will be greatly appreciated.

Volunteers are needed at the office a minimum of 7 people daily. African Relief Center in Houston is opened everyday from 9am till 6pm.
